Thursday Art and Dinner Date: Squares

Welcome to Thursday Art and Dinner Date! Today’s optional art prompt is “Squares”. The first thing that came to mind was the old game show “Hollywood Squares”…I think my favourite guest on that show was Paul Lynde, do you remember him? So funny….then I thought of The Brady Bunch and that’s where this week’s Looney Tune drawing came from!

This was a complicated drawing my friends. It took some time to get all of the characters drawn the way I wanted them to look! I always have trouble with Wile E. Coyote for some reason, I had to redo him a few times.

As usual, I sketched out my drawing, took a photo, uploaded it to photoshop and digitally added color. I tried to find The Brady Bunch font online, I got pretty close!

Life Update

Friends, I’m burnt out. As many of you know, for the last 3 years, I’ve been working very hard at trying to make a career from my YouTube channels and now this website/blog. I thought with time I’d at least break even, but to be honest, I’ve been working between 50-60 hours a week and only making (on good months) $40 a month. If there is a definition of slave labor, that is it!

I’ve decided I need to re-evaluate my priorities and figure out if I will continue to be present on social media or not. I’m taking the summer off from YouTube. I will continue to host the art date, but my presence online will be sparse. I hope you all have a lovely summer and I’ll be back in the fall with more news! Love you all! ♥

That’s all for now folks! Please join us again next Thursday for Thursday Art and Dinner Date! Next week’s optional art prompt is: “Berries”. If you’d like a heads-up, here is a list of all of the art prompts for 2024.

If you’d like to share your post, just link up below! We’d love to see your foodie post and/or your art post! Remember, the weekly art prompt is optional, we’d love to see any art you’ve created!

And as far as You Tube, Hon…do what is right for you! Enjoy you summer and take a break and know everyone here appreciates you and cares about you! I have not known you very long but what I do know is that you are a very special, kind, and giving person and so you deserve to be well and content and happy! And if that takes giving up one thing then do it. RELAX!! We only live once! Use your artistic creative spirit to create art that will ease your soul! That has always been good medicine for me when I am burn out! Thank you for your kind spirit!

Your artwork brings back so many sentimental memories. Saturday morning, cereal, and Daffy Duck and the Gang!! I still watch those cartoons and love them as I did as a child!! AND JUST WANT TO SAY…Thank you, Rian, for your wonderful imagination and creative skills and all of these fun challenges! I enjoy creating art every week and contributing what I created. Looking forward to the next challenge! Have a great weekend!

Good morning, Rain! I’m sorry that the YouTube channels were not working as you had hoped. I think you are very wise to take a break for the summer. You need to relax and replenish your heart and soul and mind and body. For starters, I can’t think of a better way than with those four wonderful dogs. Dogs love unconditionally. You have accomplished so much online! You’ve been an absolute delight! I was constantly amazed at how you did what you did. And I have some sense of how much work and pressure you have been under. Life flies by so quickly, so enjoy your down time and heal. Your online friends will be here, if and when you return. You are loved and appreciated! Take good care of yourself! Sending you big hugs!

Nothing to share this week, but it sounds like you are making a smart choice to ease back on the youtube and the other social media. (I’m glad you’re still hosting art/dinner date, though!). Life is worth LIVING and when you are spending a lot of time on something that isn’t paying off dividends (not always financial, but that too), it merits a rethink. Enjoy the summer with your dogs, good food and art! We’ll be here when you are.

…and happy Looney Tunes Squares to you.

I hope you find the right balance for you. Thanks friend. It’s always fun to come here and visit you. Aloha!

So to read it didn´t work out with YouTube.
Enjoy your time over summer and good luck with your future plans.

All the best Jan

You really did a wonderful job with Wile E. Coyote, dear Rain. You don’t seem to be having any trouble! I can imagine that it is difficult to get the different characters in the right size in the squares. Incidentally, when I thought of squares I was reminded of Times Square in New York. It will also appear in my travel report, but not yet. At the moment there are mainly wombats, Tassie devils, kangaroos, various Australian birds and even an alpaca to see, but no squares. (Unless you accept the square-shaped windows in the 1st mural or my collages, which are partly square-shaped.
I’m sorry to hear that you’re burned out because of your social media work. I’m afraid there’s not much money to be made with such channels these days. In the first few years of my blogging career, I had a little advertising income (a few, I didn’t commit to it either, I was simply asked by some companies and when it suited me, I said yes), although it was mainly a hobby blog. But that got less and less, I think the companies didn’t have that much money left either, and one day I decided to do it purely for fun. I hope you stick with blogging, otherwise I would miss you!
All the best, Traude

A very clever interpretation of this week’s prompt! So sorry to hear you’re feeling burned out and not making money on your YouTube endeavours. Enjoy your summer off to regroup, refresh and rejuvenate, Rain. All the best to you.

Iris Flavia

We don´t have that game show but I know it from The Simpsons.
So sorry it didn´t work out with YouTube… good luck for your future plans!

Christine

Lovely take on Squares Rain. So sorry you are burned out like this. Thanks for continuing to host.
